The trouble with reddit is the overwhelming leftist bias.

All conservatives are racist. That's the relevance here.

The liberals' narrative is that all conservatives are racist. Don't you know this already?

So being against gay marriage makes you both ignorant and a homophobe. TIL.

Software Programmer > Web Developer? by WillNyein webdev

In the context above, "the stack" I'm talking about encompasses all the technology needed to run a web site.

LAMP/Java stacks refer to server-side tech infrastructure generally, which includes language, frameworks and design patterns. A Rails stack for example includes language (ruby) framework (rails), but doesn't imply Apache or MySQL (as LAMP does). Most everyone uses HTML/CSS/Javascript which runs on the client-side (aka browser).

Full stack implies hosting, networking, security, database management, server-side application layer, client-side application layer, third-party integration, and testing infrastructure.

Each layer has it's own set of technical choices, which includes language, framework, design patterns, vendor tools, and best practices.

As your site grows you have to deal with scaling your codebase, managing large data sets, refactoring, spam management, user support, in- and out-bound email, asynchronous services architecture, project management, and hiring technical talent, to name a few.

I have built a website with a very small team and have to work on every layer and issue listed above. It's vastly more difficult than building a desktop app for example.
