Wealthy consider fleeing France as Hard-line Socialist leads presidential election by wowcarsin Libertarian

I really don't understand how a 75% tax is even justified. It is the equivalent of working 9 out of 12 months for free. I just hope for the global economy, France doesn't dip.

Skittles, you are amaizing. by FakePiein fffffffuuuuuuuuuuuu

[–]Roh234 1 point2 points ago

Lets see...

There are 5 different colors of skittles. There is a 1 in 5 chance of each skittle being red.

They weight about 1g per skittle. Each pack averages 64.5 g. Rounded down, there is about 64 skittles in your bag.

http://www.scientificameriken.com/candy4.asp

The chance of all 64 skittles being red is (1/5)64 which is 1.844 * 10-45 with 1 being 100%.

To put that in that in perspective, the chance to win the powerball lottery jackpot is 5.61 *10-9 . With that you would have a better chance to win the jackpot 5 times in a row.

Holy shit! I'm not sure if OP is bullshitting, or just won the meaningless lotteries of a the lotteries.

Have you ever gone through a big political shift personally? Conservative to Liberal or Liberal to Conservative... What changed your mind? by DinkumThinkumin AskReddit

[–]Roh234 1 point2 points ago

Socialist -> Authoritarian -> Libertarian

I started off at 10 thinking that capitalism is the root of all problems and more regulation was needed. Didn't care about social issues such as gay marriage and religion in class.

Then about when I was 14, I started to see the world but took a reaction that turned me hostile to gays and weed smokers, and want to send a Gestapo type police that would imprison and shoot illegals. I still believed that central planning by the world's best economists would solve the crises and prevent any environmental damage.

When I was 15. I questioned my self on all my beliefs. Took a while to realise that gay people are people that have a different set of beliefs than me and its NONE OF MY BUSINESS to over look their sex life. I realised that smoking weed is still questionable but there is no real reason to ban it. Illegals are people trying to look for a better life, so I encourage an increase of legal immigrant while cutting welfare system then have open borders. I then heard Ron Paul and checked out Mises.org which reshaped my economic beliefs.

I am still currently questioning the role of government. So currently I
in between libertarian and Anachro-Capitalism. I may get

/r/Anarcho_Capitalism to help me.

ROI on Lobbying [x-post /r/Agorism] by Libertarian_Atheistin Anarcho_Capitalism

I'm brown and just in high school but I tend to read scientific journals and a regular lurker in /r/askscience. I'm also lurker in /r/Libertarian as well.

I agree with your points that why I really can't give you a rebuttal. I just find it ridiculous that such an invasive government exists and that big corporations is using big governments to enrich their pockets. I just get sceptical on anti-oil posters especially the hype on frackking. I know the oil companies aren't clean but they are painted devil incarnate by environmentalists just like bio-tech groups is painted by the religious statists.

11% ROI for a blue ship corporation. I would love to find a blue chip corporation that give 11% ROR on stock. My friends and family are getting 5% at best on their stock portfolio.

$20bn on Oil subsidies. I also have to question the source on this information. I have a feeling that this is from Greenpeace or 350.org since they count tax breaks as subsidies.

Subsidy = receiving money from the government to make a business activity profitable

Selective tax break- You don't have to give up as much money to the violence of the state which only applies to certain businesses.

Tax break- Everyone is robbed less

Saying that a (selective) tax break = subsidies or spending is dangerous and is saying the government owns all the money in the land. However I do agree that selective breaks are bad and should be made universal rather than tax certain corporations more.

I also love who they call real subsidies to green companies 'investment' of $79bn. I also love how setting up a $10tn ponzi system for bankers is not considered a subsidy (This is for countries that have cap n trade).

On the tax break of bringing off shore profits isn't considered a bad thing. Its just that the barriers exist on the little guy. Get rid of those.

I don't get why letting drug companies charge what they want is bad thing. Isn't that part of the free market not letting the prices be artificially low. If the prices are too high they will go out of business.

Thank for your time in this sub-Reddit. Layman here. Guys don't down vote him/her. At least we have some engagement here. A few questions and problems to answer..

Questions

1) How much warming do you personally think will happen only to be limited by hydro-carbon supplies?

2) In your opinion effects going to be dangerous as outlined by the IPCC

3) How's a regular day of work?

Problems

1)The first problem I have with the current greenhouse gas theory is that the equation used to find the temperature without GHGs. The formula is: http://i.imgur.com/4nmyW.png T= Temperature L= Luminosity A= Alebedo σ = Stefan–Boltzmann constant D = Distance If you do the calculation right with the 'accepted' values you should get the earth is 255K. But the earth is 288K thus the 33K of GHG induced warming.

But in my classes and scientific papers of astronomy, neither the distance, Luminosity, or the albedo is constant like the equation implies. Fiddling around with the error bars in albedo, orbital eccentricity, and the fluctuations in luminosity, I found the discrepancy non-negligible. From 249K to 268K while the accepted value is 255K.

2) Is the energy released from radioactive decay, background cosmic radiation and the reflection energy from the moon, also reflected when calculating the planet's temperature with GHG's?

I'm currently on a tight schedule but I will ask for more.
