Who supports Mitt Romney and why? (self.politics)
submitted 3 months ago by gkcman
Do people generally agree with his ideas? Or does it tend towards a "he's got the best shot at beating Obama" mentality. I am a Ron Paul supporter, but I'd like to hear from a Romney supporters perspective why they like him. Just curious.

Mormons because they are Mormon.

All mormons support Romney and Santorum, they'll only vote for one or the other, depending on who gets the nomination. My friend, who regularly attends an LDS church said his church members have been suggesting everyone 'support their fellow brethren in this time when the mormon church could also help fulfill the second coming by guiding America in the direction it needs to go.'

My dad, because Obama?
I think this is the general theme of the race at the moment.

That's not really fair. Some multi-millionaires like him too.

I read an article that stated that Romney was the only remaining GOP candidate who was against returning to the gold standard (Paul supports it adamantly, Gingrich has said he'd consider it, and Santorum said he'd support it, I think). I think this is indicative that a Romney presidency would be more realistic and pragmatic and moderate, compared to the other GOP candidates.

I doubt you'll get many responses. Very few on here are Romney fans, and those who are won't post because they'll get immediately downvoted to the depths of the internet.
I am a Ron Paul supporter as well, but do not believe that a differing opinion is automatically an invalid opinion.

We are the 1%.

I suppose you are right. I'll just have to look elsewhere.

I certainly don't. I don't like the way he treats his family in regards to the family trip and his dog getting diarrhea while being on the roof. I don't like his complaints about the tax code while using offshore accounts. Finally, I can't understand why people think he has business experience when he worked for Bain Capital.

"Just curious"? Romney may be an idiot, but if he has any supporters on reddit do your really think they'd buy that other folks would be "just curious"? They'd get hammered and they know it.
