Kilimanjaro Ice
A study by the University of Washington performed by Mote and Georg Kaser, a glaciologist at the University of Innsbruck in Austria, concluded that the melting of Kilimanjaro is mostly not due to global warming since it started long before it. Unlike midlatitude glaciers, which are warmed and melted by surrounding air in the summer, the ice loss on Kilimanjaro is driven strictly by solar radiation.
This appeared in the American Scientist in June-August 2007.
