The most striking part of the article:

like a parent treats a 4-year old when explaining how Santa Claus brings presents at Christmas. Of course, when the child reaches the age of 8, he or she realises that he/she had been duped the whole time. Right now the media is at about age two and half, and stuck there.

is this in skeptic, really? do you know about the alfred wagner institute/

[–]JRugman -2 points-1 points ago

"Cold is Hot"

Really? Is that what is actually being said, or is that a complete misrepresentation of the scientific research being presented here?

Why would skeptics have a problem with the mechanism by which lack of summer arctic sea ice leads to colder, snowier winters around northern Europe?

This isn't even a new idea, it's been knocking around since November 2009, when Vladimir Petoukhov and Vladimir Semenov had a paper published about it.

Signs of desperation starting to creep in...?

About 10-15 years ago we were told by the Ivory Tower's residents that soon snow is going to be a "thing of the past". Even alpine resort developers started to advice against any investments below 2000m or 2500m; of course global warming hysteria corrupted or scared the best out of them.

Now we are told, by the same "authority", that global warming was misunderstood and in fact we are going to have more snow. In other words, it might be more snow...or less...or the same. Don't count on our prediction, we'll issue a new one after the fact we predicted didn't happen; for one moment we'll ignore our models, look outside through the window, see what's going on and reach a consensus again. We'll fix our models too in order to match the past. Every 5 to 10 years we'll have another 100 year guess. It's laughable, pathetic.

Got a source for that quote?

No, some regions are going to have more snowfall. There's a difference. Overall, there will be less snow on the ground.

Overall, there will be less snow on the ground.

It is clear that the "wizard" was not able to predict that in any meaningful way.

Your quote is from a newspaper headline. Not from a scientific source. Wonderful.

What's really funny about that 'question' is that your side reeks of panic lately.

What I would like you to explain is why it is OK for your side to attribute everything to global warming. Why is it that some on your side say that our kids will never see snow and others are claiming more snow? Your narratives are constantly contradictory. It reminds one of religious folk saying "God did it" to everything. "Global warming did it," no matter what "it" may be.

What I would like you to explain is why it is OK for your side to attribute everything to global warming.

If that were true, it would definitely not be OK. But of course, it's not true. I didn't blame my fiery ring this morning on global warming - I blamed it on the vindaloo I had last night.

Why is it that some on your side say that our kids will never see snow...

That's a lie.

...and others are claiming more snow?

The physical basis of increased regional snowfall in a warming climate is well established. There's even supporting evidence to indicate that it's happening.

Your narratives are constantly contradictory.

Just as long as the science remains sound.

It reminds one of religious folk saying "God did it" to everything. "Global warming did it," no matter what "it" may be.

You're only saying that because you don't have a full understanding of the science. You should probably stop telling lies and try doing a bit more research into the subject.

I didn't blame my fiery ring this morning on global warming - I blamed it on the vindaloo I had last night.

So nasty. I'm trying to think of an appropriate LOTR response.

That's a lie.

You are aware of what everyone on your side has said? Apparently not.

“Children just aren’t going to know what snow is." --Dr. David Viner, CRU, 2000

"This winter is just a little cooler than average, and I still think that snow will become an increasingly rare event." --Dr. David Viner, 2010

The physical basis of increased regional snowfall in a warming climate is well established. There's even supporting evidence to indicate that it's happening.

Viner is just an idiot then?

Just as long as the science remains sound.

Logic fail.

You're only saying that because you don't have a full understanding of the science. You should probably stop telling lies and try doing a bit more research into the subject.

What lie have I told? And why do you think you understand the science better than me?

[–]JRugman -2 points-1 points ago

Viner is just an idiot then?

I don't know. But he's not on "my side". And he never said that kids would never see snow, just that it would become increasingly rare in the UK.

Increasing temperatures tend to increase evaporation which leads to more precipitation. In winter, in regions where temps are below zero, that precipitation falls as snow. Simple.

What lie have I told?

That some (ie plural) on my side say that our kids will never see snow.

And why do you think you understand the science better than me?

Evidence.

Simple, huh? So Viner is wrong?

Evidence.

Oh? Like what? Please don't say computer models are evidence.
